It seems like such a long time since I’ve put pen to paper as it were. Today is the last day of the children’s Easter holidays so school preparation is frantically underway.
Homework? What homework?!! “Oh let me just play with the cat!” “Can we go to the beach Mum?”
Later this week the girls will be going on their first ever school residential. Neither are keen on being away from home but want to do the outdoor activities that they will be involved with in the daytimes. I’m scared a little of them going too. I think it’s natural as a parent to be scared about handing the reins over to someone else. Even if only for a couple of nights. Trying to stop myself from making too much of it and making the situation even more fraught. “But, don’t you care Mummy?!” “Yes, yes I do.”
Anyway… Managed to escape for a few days last week. Took the three of them down to Chester to meet up with my Dad for a couple of days and to try and relax. Almost came to a grinding halt when it came to light that I had booked for the following week and that there were no spare rooms! Felt like a complete idiot and burst into tears! It’s hard being responsible for so many things at once sometimes… Thankfully the hotel came through and found us a beautiful room. The spa and pool there were amazing. I would definitely recommend the Grosvenor Pulford just outside of Chester to everyone. They made myself, the children and dog extremely welcome.
Had a lovely day with Dad on the Llangollen railway followed by a trip to the Great Orme and Llandudno the next day. It was pretty windy but beautiful all the same.
After Dad had left we enjoyed a day at Chester Zoo. I’m not a massive zoo fan but the children were thrilled to see their favourite animals close up. A new baby giraffe, the zebras and meerkats were the highlights for us all. We decided to purchase a season ticket and return the following day. Of course we visited Yo! Sushi for our annual treat meal there. The kids love the conveyor belt of food and it always reminds of Rob…
Now we’re back to reality and trying to get ready for school again. So what was I doing? Oh yes! Homework!! Lol!!
